▲ DongHwa Entec’s cryogenic heat exchanger for liquefaction plants(PFHE) is being installed
at the verification test-bed for the new natural gas liquefaction process(KSMR).

DongHwa Entec Co., Ltd. manufactured and installed the main heat exchanger for liquefaction (PFHE) at the test-bed to verify its new natural gas liquefaction process(KSMR) before its trial run. 

After conducting the internal pressure test(98.8bar) and cryogenic test(-165℃), the system was installed at the test-bed for performance verification. 

The test-bed was designed and constructed by GS E&C with its new liquefaction process(KSMR) designed by Korea Gas Corporation. 

The cryogenic heat exchanger for liquefaction plants(PFHE) – the key element of the natural gas liquefaction process – was developed and installed by DongHwa Entec Co., Ltd. 

The performance verification for the cryogenic heat exchanger for liquefaction plants (PFHE: brazed aluminum Plate-Fin-type Heat Exchanger) was completed through the test of “72-hour continuous LNG production based on 100 tons per day”. 

For cryogenic heat exchanger technology, up to now, Korea has been entirely dependent on imports. 

However, DongHwa Entec Co., Ltd. has now succeeded in localization by securing its own design and manufacturing technologies through the Policy Research Support project of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. 

The successfully localized cryogenic heat exchanger(PFHE) can be applied not only to natural gas liquefaction, but also to various processes and plants operated in the cryogenic range, including BOG(Boil-Off Gas) re-liquefaction facilities and Air Separation Units. 

Very compact in size compared to the Shell&Tube type heat exchanger, it is a signature product in this area that enables multi-stream arrangement. 

With its success in the localization of cryogenic PFHE that had previously been monopolized by several overseas companies, DongHwa Entec Co., Ltd. has become the only domestic supplier and will continue its promotional activities aggressively for domestic and foreign shipyards and heavy industry and construction companies in the future, based on the success of the test-bed LNG verification test of the heat exchanger(PFHE).
