To mark the Month of the Elderly, DongHwa Entec donated 2 million KRW to the Dusong Social Welfare Center at 10 a.m. on Oct. 22, in Saha-gu, Busan. The funds are to be used to supply goods to low-income elderly people in the local community.
The “Supplies Aid Project for Low-income Elderly People” was carried out by the Welfare Center’s personnel and DongHwa Entec DoDream Volunteer Group participants gathered at the auditorium on the third floor of the center. The project, a corporate social contribution activity, aims to ensure that basic livelihood recipients, old people living alone and young adults and middle-aged people living alone do not suffer the hardship of skipping meals by supplying 40 households with meal kits and nutritional supplements.
After the donation delivery ceremony, DongHwa Entec’s in-house volunteer group “DoDream” volunteered in teams of two to personally deliver supplies to the 40 households and take the time to ask after their health and keep them company. The event gained even more meaning as the volunteers put their love for their neighbors into practice in person.
Center Director Kim Taehyeong said, “Thanks to their concern about our local community, a great opportunity to deliver supplies to underprivileged families was arranged. I’d like to express my gratitude to the DongHwa Entec DoDream Volunteer Group who showed in person that, especially in this time when we are more concerned about our community due to the prolonged COVID-19, we are ‘together’.
” The DongHwa Entec DoDream Volunteer Group is scheduled to conduct another volunteer activity in collaboration with the Gangseo-gu Welfare Center in November, as well as the “Sharing of Love Briquettes” volunteer service scheduled for Dec. 3 (Sat.) in collaboration with the Busan Briquette Bank.
