Donghwa Entec signed a contract to supply FGSS (fuel gas supply system) for the LNG tugboat with Korea Gas Shipping (한국가스해운) located in Incheon for the first time. 

The first-ever LNG tugboat (eco-fueled boat) installed with Donghwa Pneutec’s FGSS in Incheon Port in the first half 2021 will commence commercial operations. 

The building of the LNG tug boat has been pushed as part of the government’s eco-ship support project for fine dust reduction and port air quality improvement, and it was actively supported by Incheon Port Authority.  

While Korean tugboat companies are not currently ordering LNG fuel tugboats due to the high price of them and the lack of a fuel supply chain system in Korea, the LNG fueled ship industry revitalization efforts are being widely made including the government’s support for a public-private LNG boat adoption pilot order, expansion of waste ship subsidies, and a domestic coastal ECA-designated validity review.  

Donghwa Entec continues to hold technology meetings for similar projects including port cleaning boats and fishing practice boats in addition to tugboats through a system design optimized for each ship type navigation condition and compact design that can solve spatial problems.
